Proton e.MAS 7

The Proton e.MAS 7 is Proton's first fully electric SUV, and it comes to Nepal through Jagdamba Motors Pvt. Ltd. Underneath the badge, it's the Geely Galaxy E5, which is sold in Nepal in its own right as the Geely EX5, so the two share the AEGIS short-blade battery and the 12-in-1 drive unit. Where the Proton differs is that it gives you a choice of two battery sizes.

It's built around family use. There are five seats, 461 litres of boot space behind them, and 1,877 litres once the rear bench folds flat. At 4,615 mm long with a 2,750 mm wheelbase, rear legroom isn't something you'll have to ration. Ground clearance sits at 173 mm, which is enough for Nepal's road conditions.

Range depends on which variant you pick. The Prime uses a 49.52 kWh battery rated at 345 km on the WLTP cycle, while the Premium's 60.22 kWh pack is rated at 410 km. Both share the same front motor and 320 Nm of torque, so the Prime is the quicker of the two to 100 km/h at 6.9 seconds. On a DC fast charger, both go from 30 to 80 percent in about 20 minutes.

Safety is standard across the range, with six airbags, electronic stability control, a 360-degree camera, and a Level 2 driver assistance suite that covers adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and blind spot monitoring. Proton covers the vehicle for 6 years or 150,000 km and the battery for 8 years or 160,000 km.

Prices start at Rs. 49,99,000 for the Prime and Rs. 59,99,000 for the Premium, and the gap between them comes down to battery size and equipment.
