MGS5

The MG S5 EV is a five-seat electric SUV that takes over from the ZS EV in MG's Nepal line-up, and it's sold internationally as the MGS5 EV (MG ES5 in China). Paramount Motors Pvt. Ltd. brings it in as MG's authorised importer and distributor, with prices running from Rs. 43.99 lakh to Rs. 54.99 lakh.

Unlike its predecessor, the S5 sits on MG's Modular Scalable Platform, a base designed only for EVs, with the motor driving the rear wheels. That 99 kW, 250 Nm motor is shared across the range, and it's paired with independent suspension front and rear, so the car stays composed over broken surfaces and hill roads. Ground clearance is 175 mm on the Comfort trim and 180 mm on the Luxury trims.

You get a choice of two CATL-made LFP (lithium iron phosphate) batteries. The 49.1 kWh pack is rated for 340 km on the WLTP test cycle, while the 62.2 kWh pack stretches that to 430 km. The pack is only 110 mm thick, which frees up cabin space. DC fast charging takes the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 24 minutes on the smaller pack and 26 minutes on the larger one, and a 3.3 kW V2L (vehicle-to-load) outlet lets you run appliances from the car.

For families, the 2,730 mm wheelbase makes room for a proper three-seat rear bench, and the boot holds 453 litres, growing to 1,441 litres with the rear seats folded. Every trim gets seven airbags, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist and blind spot detection, along with a 12.8-inch touchscreen with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
