Proton e.MAS 5

The Proton e.MAS 5 is a compact electric crossover built around everyday driving, and it packs in a few things you rarely see at this size. Jagdamba Motors sells it in Nepal in two versions: the Prime at Rs. 32.99 lakh and the Premium at Rs. 36.99 lakh.

The biggest difference between the two is the battery. The Prime's 30.12 kWh pack is rated for 225 km on the WLTP test cycle, while the Premium's 40.16 kWh pack takes that to 325 km. Both use CATL's LFP cells, a chemistry known for long life and for coping well with regular full charges. On a DC fast charger, you can go from 30% to 80% in about 21 minutes, and AC charging runs at 6.6 kW.

Unusually for a small EV, the motor sits at the back and drives the rear wheels. It's paired with multi-link independent rear suspension, which helps the car stay settled over broken surfaces and hill roads. A 4.95 m turning radius makes U-turns and tight parking in stop-start traffic much less of a chore.

Space is cleverly used. The boot holds 375 L and grows to 1,320 L with the rear seats folded, and there's a 70 L front trunk under the bonnet for charging cables or shopping bags. Inside, a 14.6-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto sits next to an 8.8-inch digital driver display. Both versions get six airbags, electronic stability control and blind spot detection, and vehicle-to-load lets you run small appliances straight from the battery.
