Leapmotor T03

The Leapmotor T03 is a compact five-door electric hatchback brought to Nepal by Shangrila Motors Pvt. Ltd., the brand's sole authorised distributor, at Rs. 34,00,000. It is the same T03 sold internationally under Leapmotor's partnership with Stellantis, and it arrives in Nepal in a single fully-equipped specification.

The numbers are built around city use. A 37.3 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, a chemistry chosen for long cycle life and heat tolerance rather than outright energy density, feeds a single 70 kW front motor making 158 Nm. That is good for 130 km/h and 12.7 seconds to 100 km/h, though the more telling figure is 5.0 seconds to 50 km/h, which is where a car this size actually spends its time. The claimed range is 265 km on the WLTP combined cycle, the European lab test that is generally closer to reality than the CLTC figures quoted for many Chinese EVs, and 395 km on the urban-only portion of the same test.

Charging runs through a Type 2 socket for AC and CCS2 for DC. The 6.6 kW onboard charger takes the pack from empty to full in about six hours, and a DC fast charger delivers 30 to 80 percent in 36 minutes at up to 48 kW.

At 3,620 mm long on a 2,400 mm wheelbase with 165 mm of ground clearance, it is built for tight streets and easy parking. It seats four, not five, and the boot holds 210 litres, expanding to 880 litres with the rear seats down. Equipment is generous for the money: a panoramic sunroof with a powered blind, a 10.1-inch touchscreen alongside an 8-inch digital cluster, six airbags, and Leapmotor's LEAP Pilot Level 2 driver assistance package covering adaptive cruise, lane keeping, autonomous emergency braking and blind spot detection. Warranty is eight years or 160,000 km on the battery and three years or 100,000 km on the vehicle and e-powertrain.

This suits a buyer who wants a genuinely small, well-equipped EV for daily commuting and errands, and who does not need to carry a fifth passenger or a large load.
