Maxus eTerron 9 Comfort Electric Pickup Launched in Nepal at Rs 88 Lakhs

Maxus eTerron 9 Electric Pickup Splashing Through a Mountain River

Himalaya Motrix Pvt. Ltd. has launched the Maxus eTerron 9 Comfort in Nepal, an electric four-wheel-drive pickup built for people who need a vehicle that works hard but still feels comfortable to drive every day. Himalaya Motrix, a company under Himalaya Organisation, is the official importer and distributor of Maxus vehicles in the country.

The introductory price is Rs 88 lakh, and it applies only to the first 50 customers.

The eTerron 9 Comfort runs on a 102.2 kWh battery, which the distributor says is the biggest pack in any vehicle currently sold in Nepal. Maxus rates the range at 560 km on the NEDC cycle. Charging is quick too, with support for 115 kW DC fast charging that takes the battery from 20 to 80 percent in roughly 42 minutes.

For a pickup, the numbers under the skin are unusual. Two motors, 125 kW at the front and 200 kW at the rear, produce a combined 700 Nm of torque. That is enough to push the truck from zero to 100 km/h in 5.8 seconds, with a top speed of 190 km/h.

Load Capacity and Off-Road Ability

The load capacity is where it earns its keep. The eTerron 9 Comfort carries up to 1,050 kg in the bed and tows up to 3,500 kg with a braked trailer. The cargo box measures 1,561 mm long, 1,500 mm wide and 535 mm deep, which leaves room for everything from construction material to camping gear.

It is also built for roads that are not really roads. The truck comes with an All-Terrain System offering different drive modes, can wade through 545 mm of water, and has a 29-degree approach angle and a 25-degree departure angle. Double wishbone suspension at the front and a multi-link independent setup at the rear are meant to keep the ride settled on Nepal's rougher stretches.

A representative of Himalaya Motrix said the vehicle brings together long electric range, proper four-wheel-drive capability and drive modes suited to high-altitude terrain, muddy tracks and stone-paved roads, without giving up safety or comfort.

Cabin, Features and Safety

Inside, the five-seat cabin gets two 12.3-inch screens, one for the instrument cluster and one for infotainment. The equipment list covers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, a six-way power driver's seat, a microfibre leather multifunction steering wheel, rear AC outlets, USB and Type-C charging ports, keyless entry and start, automatic headlights and wipers, and one-touch power windows. There is also vehicle-to-load capability, which lets the truck run external equipment straight off its battery, handy at a worksite or anywhere without a power connection.

On safety, the eTerron 9 Comfort holds a five-star Euro NCAP rating, something few vehicles imported into Nepal can claim. Himalaya Motrix says buyers will be supported by service outlets in six major cities across the country.
